Foundation Overview

Established in 1967, the Montana Tech Foundation (Foundation) is an independent, non-profit organization which qualifies under the provisions of IRS code 501(c)(3) and serves as the official development office for Montana Tech. The Foundation is dedicated to operate exclusively for the purpose of encouraging, promoting and supporting the educational programs and scholarly pursuits of Montana Tech. The Foundation’s specific purpose has expanded over time as follows:

  • Champion the mission and vision of Montana Tech of the University of Montana.
  • Build and foster relationships with the constituents that the college serves.
  • Encourage and enable philanthropy.
    Solicit and accept financial gifts, equipment, real property and professional services.
  • Support special projects, research efforts and campus salaries in order to enhance the quality of educational programs.
  • Administer student scholarships and grants to enhance academic achievement and success.
  • Stewardship – Responsible management of any resource entrusted to the Foundation.
  • Celebrate success - Provide recognition of students, college and foundation employees and constituents for outstanding service or contribution to education.

 

Mission Statement

The mission of the Montana Tech Foundation is to advance the teaching, research, and public service endeavors of Montana Tech by generating private contributions to supplement the institution's state and federal revenues for capital, operating, and student assistance funds. Established in 1967 under State of Montana law, the Foundation is the catalyst and conduit through which gifts and endowment income flow to provide immediate and long-term support for Montana Tech and all of its programs. The Foundation is not an object of philanthropy itself, but a mechanism through which private support is raised and managed for the sole benefit of Tech. Overseen by a board of directors and staffed by a team of development professionals, the Foundation administers all gifts in a business-like manner in accordance with donors' wishes.
